  1. Hi Fred, This is Bobbie Wayne, Dan Mozell’s wife. I have been looking for a pedal harp built around 1830 that is in playable condition. Dan and I play the popular music of the 18th and 19th centuries in historic sites in costume and I need a period harp. I own a 1795 Alexander Barry single-action harp, which I play at home, but it is far too frail to take around to concerts.

I just missed an 1830 Erard harp that was sold for $16,000 by the Virginia Harp Center, which would have been ideal. I was hoping you might have a suggestion as to where to look or might know of such a harp. If you do, I would be extremely grateful for your help in finding one.

    • Hello Bobbie. Sorry for the delay in responding. You left a comment to our WordPress post. However, with no contact email. So, I finally figured out how to go into the backend of the page and find a channel to respond to you. For future reference, if you use the “Contact” link we’ll get an email that we can respond to. Or, just go to our web site and use the Contact Us page. Or call the shop. In any case, the Virginia Harp Center is the source we usually refer people to when they call the shop asking for playable harps. If they still have more than one location, yu might ask if what they don’t have at one, they might have at another (just in case the person you ask doesn’t think to figure that out). Hope you find what you are looking for! vintagephiladelphia@gmail.com

      • Thanks Fred! I will call the VA harp center. I saw the perfect harp on their site: an 1830 Erard, totally repaired and ready to go. Of course by the time I saw it it had been sold. Thanks for tracking me down.
